My 2000 Trek 530 Touring bike came with a Shimano BB-5500 bottom bracket. For the 10 years I have owned the bike and thousands of miles I have rode on it, the bracket has functioned flawlessly. Many people claim or have problems with their brackets which I think has more to do with a flawed installation of the bracket rather then a faulty bearing.
